Terms of use

Who may use UroAnswers, what members can post, how posted content is licensed and where the responsibility of the site ends for readers and members.

Updated: 6 October 2026

These terms apply to everyone who uses uroanswers.org, whether you read it or post on the forum. Please read them together with the forum rules and registration agreement, the privacy policy and the medical disclaimer.

1. Who we are

Uroanswers ("we", "us") publishes this site. You can email us at contact@uroanswers.org.

2. Agreeing to these terms

By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you create an account, you also agree to the registration agreement shown at signup. Any consent for us to process personal health information you choose to share is given separately, through its own checkbox at signup, not by agreeing to these terms or the registration agreement. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

3. Health information only

Everything on Uroanswers is general information. It is not medical advice, and using the site does not create a doctor-patient relationship with us or with any member, including verified clinicians. The medical disclaimer explains this in full and forms part of these terms.

4. Who can use the site

Anyone can read the site. To create an account and post, you must be 18 or over and able to agree to these terms. One person may hold one account.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its information.

5. Your account

  • Choose a pseudonym that doesn't identify you. Your email address is never shown to other members.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is posted from your account.
  • Tell us at contact@uroanswers.org if you think someone else has used your account.

6. What you post

The forum rules set out what you may and may not post, and they form part of these terms. In short:

  • You are responsible for your own posts.
  • Share your own experience. Don't diagnose other members or tell them what treatment or dose to take.
  • No advertising, affiliate links, solicitation or undisclosed commercial interests.
  • Nothing unlawful, abusive, defamatory or invasive of someone else's privacy.
  • Don't post anyone's identifying details, including your own.
  • Don't post material you don't have the right to share, such as copied articles or other people's writing beyond a short quote.

Before you post, remember that the forum is public. Anyone can read it, and search engines and other services may index it. Don't post anything you wouldn't want a stranger to connect to you.

7. Your content and the license you give us

You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give Uroanswers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, reproduce and format your posts on and through the site, including in notification emails and in the site's own search. We need this license to run the forum and to keep threads readable for other members. If we transfer the site to a new operator (section 19), the license transfers with it.

If a post is removed at your request, the license ends for that post, apart from copies in backups until they are overwritten.

You can edit a post for a short time after posting. You can ask us to remove a post, ask us to remove all of your posts, or close your account at any time; see section 12 and the privacy policy.

8. Moderation

We may review, hold, edit to remove personal details, or remove any post, and may restrict or close any account, if we believe it breaks these terms or the forum rules, puts someone at risk, or is unlawful. Some posts are held automatically for review before they appear, based on their content; the rest are moderated after they are published and in response to reports.

We don't check every post, and we don't vouch for the accuracy of anything members write. Posts are their authors' views, not ours.

If you disagree with a moderation decision, email contact@uroanswers.org rather than raising it in a thread.

9. Our content

The pages, articles, design and name of Uroanswers belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. You're welcome to:

  • read, print and save pages for your own use
  • share links to any page
  • quote short passages, with a link back to the page

Please don't republish whole pages or substantial parts of them, or present our content as your own, without written permission.

Search engines and AI assistants may index and cite the site as permitted by our robots.txt file. Automated collection that places an unreasonable load on the site, or that ignores robots.txt, is not allowed.

10. Using the site fairly

Don't:

  • try to access accounts, data or parts of the site that aren't meant for you
  • interfere with the site's security or operation, or introduce malicious code
  • use the site to send spam or collect other members' information
  • impersonate another person, member or clinician
  • use clinical material on the site for sexual purposes

11. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email contact@uroanswers.org with the address of the page, the work you believe is infringed, and your contact details. We will review the complaint and remove material where appropriate. Accounts that repeatedly post infringing material will be closed.

12. Closing your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing contact@uroanswers.org. When an account is closed, its pseudonym is permanently replaced so that it no longer identifies you. If you also ask us to remove your posts, we will do that too. The privacy policy explains how this works, including for backups.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the forum rules.

13. Links to other sites

We link to guideline publishers, crisis services and other outside sources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

14. Availability and changes to the site

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we may change, pause or withdraw any part of it, including the forum, at any time. We don't promise that the site will always be available or free of errors.

15. Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the site or its content, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy or completeness.

16. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the site or your reliance on anything published on it, including member posts.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). The site is free to use.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where the law doesn't allow that to be excluded. Some states and countries don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the site or these terms will be heard in a court of competent jurisdiction.

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in the courts where you live.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell registered members by email or a notice on the site at least 14 days before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last changed. If you don't agree with a change, you can close your account before it takes effect.

19. General

  • If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
  • These terms, together with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to an organization that takes over running the site, and if we do, we will tell registered members.
