Cookie policy
Which cookies Uroanswers sets, why, how long they last, and how to change your choice. Optional cookies run only with your consent.
Updated: 6 October 2026
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. This page lists the ones Uroanswers uses and how you can control them. It also covers similar technology, such as local storage, which we treat the same way.
In short: a few cookies are needed for the site to work. Everything else is optional and switched off until you say yes.
Your choice
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept optional cookies — statistics and marketing, each its own choice in Settings. Accepting all and declining are equally easy, and declining doesn't stop you reading anything or using the forum.
You can change your mind at any time using the button on this page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as declining all optional cookies on your first visit, unless you then choose otherwise using Accept all or Cookie preferences.
Cookies the site needs
These are always on, because without them pages, sign-in or security would not work. None of them is used to track you across other websites.
| What it does | Set by | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps you signed in and protects forms against forged requests | Uroanswers | Until you sign out, or after about 2 hours of inactivity |
| Tells real visitors apart from bots and blocks attacks | Cloudflare | Typically 30 minutes, up to around 30 days for a completed security check |
| Keeps you signed in for longer, only if you tick "stay signed in" when you sign in — your own choice, never the default | Uroanswers | 30 days, or until you sign out or change your password |
Optional cookies, set only if you accept Statistics:
| What it does | Set by | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Measures visits (Statistics) | Google Analytics | Cookie itself up to 2 years in your browser; Google's own data retention set to 14 months |
| Measures visits and interactions, including some session recording (Statistics) | Microsoft Clarity | Up to about 1 year in your browser; Clarity keeps recordings 30 days, except a sample it selects or ones we mark as a favorite, kept up to 9 months |
| Measures visits and interactions, including Yandex's own advertising identifiers (Statistics) | Yandex Metrica, on yandex.ru, yandex.com, yandex.com.tr, mc.yandex.com and mc.yandex.com.tr | Yandex does not publish a fixed period; we are confirming this with them |
| Microsoft/Bing's own advertising identifiers, set alongside Clarity (Statistics) | Microsoft, on bing.com and clarity.ms | Typically around 1 year, as published by Microsoft |
Your cookie choice is remembered in your browser's local storage, not a cookie, for 12 months, after which we ask again. If you have an account and are signed in, your choice is also kept with your account — so you are not asked again on a different device, or after clearing your browser's storage, unless we change what these categories cover, in which case everyone is asked again.
Optional cookies
Measurement (off unless you accept)
With your permission, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Yandex Metrica measure visits and interactions so we can see which pages are read and what is missing, looking mainly at aggregate results. Depending on the service, this can include part of its own session-recording or heatmap features. None of them runs until you accept measurement cookies in the banner; withdrawing your choice here stops them starting again, though a script already running at the moment you withdraw may keep running until you reload the page.
Each provider is permitted to use this information only to provide its service to us. We have observed that Yandex Metrica and the Bing identifiers Microsoft Clarity triggers also set some cookies associated with those companies' own advertising systems (see the inventory below) when Statistics is accepted; that is part of how those providers run their own services, not something we configure or control.
Advertising
The site does not show advertising, and we set no advertising cookies of our own. Some cookies that Yandex Metrica and Microsoft Clarity set under Statistics (see the inventory below) belong to those companies' own advertising systems, not to any campaign of ours. If we ever run our own advertising measurement, it will be a separate choice in the banner, off unless you accept, and we will update this page before it starts.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies the site needs, you won't be able to sign in. Reading the site still works. Help pages for the main browsers:
Changes
When we add, remove or change a cookie, we update this page and the date at the top. If we add a new kind of optional cookie, we ask for your consent again.
